Fresh 'n' Sassy Spaghetti Sauce

 

3 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
2 large garlic cloves, minced
5 cups chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup coarsely chopped fresh basil leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
16-ounce package spaghetti

In 4-quart saucepan over medium heat, in hot oil, cook onion and garlic 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chopped tomatoes, basil, salt and hot pepper sauce. Over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package directions. Ladle sauce over cooked, drained pasta, and serve. Makes 3 cups sauce.
