Secret Cookies
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
chocolate kisses
miniature peanut butter cups
confectioner's sugar
In large mixer bowl, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until light and
fluffy. Add flour and walnuts; beat on low speed of electric mixer until
well blended. Cover; refrigerate dough 1 to 2 hours or until firm enough
to handle
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Remove candy wrappers. Using approximately
1 tablespoon of dough for each cookie, shape dough around each piece of
candy. Roll to make a ball covering the candy completely. Place on ungreased
cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are set but not brown.
Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. While still slightly
warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Cool completely. Store in tightly covered
container. Roll again in confectioners' sugar just before serving. The
secret to these cookies is that you don't know what kind of candy is inside
until you take a bite.
