Easy Macaroni and Cheese is a favorite with Judy Shaw's children and grandchildren, and she always doubles the recipe when taking it to reunions.

Shaw, 59, of Fairplay has been making the dish for about 15 years, and she plans to take it to her family reunion in August.

Easy Macaroni and Cheese


3 tablespoons butter
2 1/2 cups uncooked macaroni
1 tablespoon mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
5 slices cheese, any type
1 quart plus 1 cup cold milk

Melt butter in a 2-quart baking dish. Pour uncooked macaroni into melted butter and stir until coated. Add mustard and stir to blend.

Add salt, pepper, cheese slices and cold milk to macaroni. Do not stir. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Do not stir while baking. The macaroni and cheese will be golden brown and creamy.
